Neurilemmoma of the ciliary body.

چکیده
are reported in the literature and only one of them is a ciliary body neurilemmoma. This is not correct, because according to Shields et al.2 (not cited) the reported cases of neurilemmoma are eight at least (associated and unassociated with neurofibromatosis), and two ofthem affected the ciliary body. Secondly, I would point out that in the case reported a fine needle aspiration biopsy could be extremely useful. My colleagues and I" and others too' obtained excellent results using this cytological technique in doubtful cases of intraocular neoplasms. Perhaps even if an efficacious therapeutic approach to ocular neurilemmoma is not yet established, this could be a case not 'dedicated' to enucleation. Unfortunately I must conclude with the statement of Shields et al. : 'At present, it seems probable that future patients with rare peripheral nerve tumors of the uvea will be diagnosed clinically as having a malignant melanoma and will be managed accordingly.' Neurilemmoma of the ciliary body: report of a case.
A case of ciliary body neurilemmoma is described. This neoplasm is extremely rare in the uveal tract and has been reported only once in the ciliary body. After extensive clinical studies of the rapidly growing tumour enucleation was performed. Subsequent histological examination showed typical features of highly vascular benign neurilemmoma. The main clinical and pathological features are repor...
متن کاملCiliary Body Tuberculosis Presenting with Attacks of Acute Intraocular Pressure Rise
Purpose: To report a rare presentation of ophthalmic tuberculosis. Case Report: A 19-year-old man was referred to the glaucoma clinic due to multiple attacks of increased intraocular pressure (IOP) in his right eye. IOP of the right eye was 50 mmHg, and glaucomatous damage of the optic nerve was present. In gonioscopy, an oval-black lesion was present in the ciliary body band on the temporal si...
متن کاملHistoanatomical study of the lens and ciliary body in ostrich eye
In the present study, the lenses and ciliary bodies of 20 ostrich eyes were studied macroscopically and microscopically. The histological slides were studied after staining by hematoxylin and eosin, Verhoeff, Van Gieson, and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS). Posterior surface of lens was more convex than its anterior surface. The average lens diameter and thickness were respectively measured as 1.43 ...
متن کاملAnterior uveal neurilemmoma--a rare neoplasm simulating malignant melanoma.
A 30-year-old woman presented with dilated episcleral vessels in the right eye which were found to be associated with an underlying ciliary body tumour. Contact lens examination, transpupillary transillumination, ultrasonography, computerised tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and fine needle aspiration biopsy produced apparently conflicting and inconclusive results, and the eye was enucle...
متن کاملRecurrent Ancient Intraosseous Neurilemmoma of Maxilla: A Rare Case Report
Neurilemmomas are benign tumors of peripheral nerve sheath Schwann cells. One of the variants of neurilemmoma is the ancient type of neurilemmoma characterized by degenerative features such as cystic degeneration, calcification, hemorrhage and hyalinization which could be easily misdiagnosed. Their occurrence in oral cavity is extremely rare and intraosseous type occurring in maxilla is exceedi...
